Be a force for change by having an active role in supporting the organization behind meaningful programs such as the Youth Assembly at the United Nations and Service Ambassadors Program. Friendship Ambassadors Foundation is always looking for dedicated staff, interns, and volunteers to be part of our team.

We are seeking volunteers to assist the team that organizes the Youth Assembly at the United Nations twice a year. Volunteer opportunities are only available to qualified applicants living in the Greater New York area. If interested, please send an email to joinus@faf.org.

Volunteer Opportunities for the Youth Assembly

Communications & Media Support

– Live tweet the discussion in assigned conference room/s
– Escort conference speakers or delegates who agree to an interview to the media hub
– Assist communications/media team or media partners in setting up and breaking down media hub and/or whenever necessary
– Welcome media representatives in front of the gate and distribute their passes
– Move the media hub materials in and out of the room in coordination with other team volunteers
– Assist main staff with other tasks as needed
– Report to the head of the communications staff
– Assist communications team during pre-registration day, as needed

Conference Session Support

– Welcome and escort conference speakers to appropriate rooms
– Assist programming staff or conference speakers during session activities or whenever necessary
– Replenish speaker tables with bottled water every session and paper nameplates
– Make sure the conference rooms are clean and alert attendees who litter
– Maintain room capacity and check-in delegates coming into your assigned room
– Assist main staff with other tasks as needed
– Set up and break down the banner for assigned room
– Move the session materials in and out of the room in coordination with other team volunteers
– Escort a group of delegates to a Permanent Mission
– Report to the head of the programming staff

Youth Development

– Identify and engage active and talented youth during the Youth Assembly. Refer them to communications team to be featured via Youth Assembly social media platforms.
– Attend conference sessions, including social venture competition and engage with youth. — — Assist partners as needed.
– Assist peer mentors with appointments
– Table opportunities during the conference
– Set up and clean up tabling materials
– Escort a group to a Permanent Mission
– Assist main staff with other tasks as needed
– Report to the head of the youth development team

Delegate Package Representative

– Guide and escort the delegate package participants based on their itineraries
– Stay with your group and assist them with their inquiries throughout the duration of their package
– Ensure proper distribution of conference supplies and services to the group members
– Assist main staff with other tasks as needed
– Escort a group to a Permanent Mission
– Report to the head of the logistics staff
– Familiarity with New York City to guide participants is a plus but not required
– *Must also be available during pre-registration
– Note: Lodging and meals during the conference will be provided

Supplies & Logistics Support

– Assist in assembling conference materials before/during the conference and packing them up after the conference
– Organize the supplies and materials and place them in the appropriate areas
– Be in charge of conference and evening event supplies
– Distribute supplies to specific areas
– Keep an eye on supplies and materials and their whereabouts
– Acquire or put together additional supplies/materials as needed (i.e. bottled water, name badges)
– Assist main staff with other tasks as needed
– Escort a group of delegates to a Permanent Mission
– Report to the head of the logistics staff
– *Must also be available during pre-registration

Registration, Traffic Direction & Escorting

– Assist in setting up and breaking down the registration desk
– Welcome attendees in front of the gate and distribute their passes
– Check-in attendees as they arrive at the desk and distribute their conference materials
– Assist delegates with their inquiries
– Assist main staff with other tasks as needed
– Move the session materials in and out of the room in coordination with logistics volunteer
– Escort a group of delegates to a Permanent Mission
– Help attendees find their way around the conference venue
– Assist attendees who are physically disabled or appear to need help
– Assist main staff with other tasks as needed
– Guide attendees to assigned seats at the General Assembly Hall
– *Must also be available during pre-registration
