2015 Festival Participating Choirs

Allegretto Children’s Choir (Romania)

Allegretto group has performed in 63 international tournaments and participated at over 55 contests and festivals, where it won 51 great prizes, The Golden Medal, The Great Interpretation Prize, The First Position and many Laureate titles. They received the title “Vice-champions of World with Silver Medal” – Choral Music for Children category in Hong Kong 2006. They had the honor to perform before world’s famous personalities such as Pope John Paul the Second, Laura Bush, Presidents of Poland and Italy, Kings of Jordan, Morocco, Belgium and Holland, among many others.

During all their artistic activity, Allegretto sustained over 1200 shows and concerts, from which more than 500 have been staged abroad. They performed concerts on famous stages like National Opera from Athens in Greece, Tognolo Theater stage, Venice and Bari in Italy, at BBC TV Studios in England, in Morocco, Jordan, Russia, Moldavian Republic and Mongol, at the Warsaw National Opera, at Nancy in France, at Istanbul, Izmir and Antalya in Turkey, in Macedon, at Odessa Opera in Ukraine. They have also presented in numerous schools and kinder gardens for children and have organized shows in hospitals and asylums for old people, for fundraising and charity initiatives.

The children are invited to perform their recitals in approximate 21 foreign languages – English, French, Spanish, Russian, Germany, Arabian, Hungarian, Swedish, Hebrew, Polish, Italian, Japanese, Latvian, Greek, Serbian, Rromanes, Hindu, Chinese, Turkish, Macedonian, and Slovenian.

The group has collaborated with the Bucharest Television societies – TVR, PRO TV, Antena 1, Prima TV, TELE 7 abc, as well as with foreign Television Societies as: BBC – England, RAI UNO – Italy, ZDF – Germany, National Televisions from Morocco, Greece, Jordan, Moldavian Republic, Macedon, Serbia, Russia, France, Latvia, Mongol, Mexico, Poland. Allegretto is the only Romanian children chorus which performed together with Mariana Nicolesco, Michael Jackson, Richard Clayderman, Toto Cutugno, Nicola di Bari, Rita Pavone, Natalia Oreiro and all great Romanian artists, in official concerts in Romania, via special broadcasts.

Allegretto group is trained and led by Prof. Adriana Codreanu and Gherasim Radu Chiriţǎ.

Chamber Choir Ivan Filipović (Croatia)

Chamber Choir Ivan Filipović Zagreb was founded in 1998 and is one of the most successful a cappella amateur ensembles in Croatia. High vocal and esthetic level of performing and a specific chamber repertory of high performing level are the choir’s characteristics since the very beginning.

Despite being an amateur ensemble, their numerous awards on international competitions including the Grand Prix and Gold Diploma at 2nd International Choir Competition “Musica Sacra a Roma – Maestri della Schola Romana” in Rome Italy in 2007; Grand Prix at 14th International Choir Competition in Verona, Italy in 2003; Gold Medal at 3rd Choir Olympics in Bremen, Germany in 2004; Gold and Silver Medal at 4th World Choir Games, Xiamen, China in 2006, as well as high praises and positive reviews just prove such serious devotion to music.

Choir’s activities are marked with intensive a cappella concerts all over Croatia (Đakovo, Osijek, Poreč, Pula, Požega, Rovinj, Sisak, Slavonski Brod, Split, Šibenik, Varaždin, Zagreb, etc.), as well as abroad (Austria, China, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Izrael, Taiwan, Turkey, etc.)

National Centre for the Performing Arts Choir (People’s Republic of China)

National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) Choir are composed of a select group of members from famous music schools in and out of China and was established on December 8, 2009. At present, Wu Lingfen serves as its conductor, with many artists well-known in China and abroad as instructors. Affiliated to NCPA, the highest palace of performing arts in China, the Chorus adheres to NCPA’s guiding principles of “for the people, for the arts, and for the world”. The Chorus mainly stages operas and concerts, and also takes part in kinds of cultural communication events.

The Chorus presented its debut performance in NCPA Opera Festival 2010, and has taken part in and gained critical acclaim from the performances of NCPA’s Xi Shi, Carmen, La Traviata, L’elisir d’amore, Turandot, A Village Teacher, Tosca, Die Fledermaus, and The Chinese Orphan. As NCPA’s resident chorus, it took part in Turandot (NCPA version) on the tour to Seoul Arts Center in January 2011 and gained high praise.

The Chorus has offered a great number of performances including Road to Revive, To the Music (debut), Roam About the Classics, “To Our Motherland– NCPA Chorus Concert for the Army Day”, Arias of Love, Beethoven’s ninth symphony, and Mahler’s second symphony.

The Chorus has cooperated with top artists like directors Francesca Zambello and Giancarlo del Monaco; conductors Lorin Maazel, Lu Jia, and Li Xincao; singers Inva Mula, Juan Pons, Brandon Jovanovich, Dai Yuqiang, Warren Mok, Zhang Yalun, Zhang Liping, Sun Xiuwei, and Liang Ning. Its overone- hundred performances a year have taken an active role in the further development of NCPA.

The Singing Angels (United States of America)

The Singing Angels, founded in 1964, is dedicated to youth development through the highest level of artistic achievement in the performing arts. The mission is to engage youth from all communities in quality music and performing arts education that teaches teamwork, builds confidence, and provides a foundation for life.

Since its debut, The Singing Angels has performed in 34 countries, sung with major celebrities, accompanied symphonies, and entertained dignitaries, presidents, and popes. The Singing Angels has been featured on national and international television, has performed four times at the White House and three times at the Vatican, and has appeared in concert with a host of stars, including Celine Dion, Cathy Rigby, Eartha Kitt, Jon Conlee, B.J. Thomas, Neil Zaza, Bob Hope, Wayne Newton, Kenny Rogers, Peabo Bryson, Roberta Flack, Audrey Hepburn, Jim Brickman, The 5 Browns, Nancy Sinatra, Barenaked Ladies, the Cleveland Orchestra, and the US Army Band.
