Mission & Vision

Friendship Ambassadors Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit, tax exempt organization that creates and leads transformative cultural exchanges, building friendships that advance mutual understanding and global peace.

FAF promotes intercultural exchanges that reduce tension, increase mutual understanding, cooperation, reconciliation, and the ability for cultures to meet in meaningful ways; the foundation also believes that Cultural Tourism can be a resource for communities seeking locally managed, sustained growth and development.

As a nonprofit cultural service agency, FAF provides a wide range of services and initiatives to advance its mission:

We envision a world that is guided by understanding and respect – a world where people recognize they are all indispensable pieces of a complex and magnificent puzzle – threads in an intricate and beautiful tapestry.

FAF's activities aim towards these goals relying on the unique ability of arts and culture to bridge gaps between communities. For instance, the Foundation's Finding New Hope project brings together families affected by terrorism in family retreats and children's camps that are free to all participants.

  • As a not-for-profit travel solutions manager, FAF is known for its customized concert tours, fund-raising and other development programs; for tax advantage through deductions that are available to all travelers, and for quality of service. During its three decades of service to the field, FAF has established and proved over and over again that the most effective and lasting way of fostering the appreciation of diversity and thus building a culture of peace is through hands-on, direct, people-to-people exchanges.

  • Our arts-based reconciliation seminars, aimed at youth from different factions in a region, develop the participants’ capacity to see each other’s common humanity in its diverse forms; their ability to assess situations fairly without being swayed by bias; and their competencies to communicate effectively and to solve problems creatively. FAF's work with the United Nations is to foster renewal by introducing a new generation of youth there. 2006 will mark the third year of its acclaimed Youth Assembly; in 2005, over 700 participants registered for the free events at the U.N. Headquarters in New York.

  • Our post-traumatic healing programs create a safe and compassionate environment, where participants are empowered to rebuild their shattered dreams and lives. We enable them to get away from the daily reminders of their tragedy, to face and process their feelings, and eventually to find tranquility and inner peace.

  • Although it is not a direct grant-maker, Friendship Ambassadors Foundation, Inc. assists whenever possible with free short-term travel grants, subsidized, introductory exchanges among group leaders, in-bound land support for international groups visiting the U.S.A. from emerging countries, and a variety of administrative and other developmental support for new cultural organizations interested in global, cultural exchange. Organizations contact the foundation directly; awards are adjudicated by FAF panels.
